I don’t know about you, but I hate when my drinks are too hot or cold to properly hold and I don’t like the idea of always needing to use a cardboard sleeve or wrap my cup in a wad of napkins to protect my hands. I also like to show my interests in a way that doesn’t require me to dress a certain way or poke holes in my shirt so I can wear a pin. To solve these problems, I have designed a quick and easy pattern to make your own cup cozy with plenty of room to add a little decoration to show off your favorite fandom or a cause that is close to your heart!

If you want to save this pattern for later, you can always find it on Ravelry.

Materials

H-8 5.00mm & I-9 5.50mm Hook (or hooks needed to obtain gauge)
31 yards worsted (4) Yarn
Stitch marker
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Feltie/other decoration (optional)

Recommended Yarns

For this project, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton because it is a soft cotton and machine washable. If you choose to add a feltie or other decoration, that may change the care instructions for your cozy.

Notes

Please be sure to carefully read this pattern before starting to crochet.

This pattern is worked in joined rounds, do not turn your work.

The chains at the start of each row do not count as stitches.

Additional Tips

When I was making the cozies using the 100% cotton yarns in Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton line, I used the H-8 5.00mm hook. However, when I used the ones with the sparkles that were made with 97% Cotton and 3% Polyester, I needed to go down to a G-7 4.50mm hook and add another row of HDCs.

If you do not feel comfortable checking gauge, one easy test for this pattern is to crochet the chain and first three rows, then see if it will fit on your cup and how tight/loose it is. Keep in mind the cozy will stretch out as it is used.

I recommend using a stitch marker to mark your slip stitch joins so you do not accidentally crochet into them.
